Charanga Training: Guidance and Techniques for Music Coordinators

Date: Monday 5th March 2018, 4-6pm
Location: Bournemouth Learning Centre

Music Coordinators and all teaching staff at KS1 and 2 are invited to join this hands-on session designed for the non-music specialist, and Music Leaders who are using Charanga.

What can you expect?

In this practical session, we will explore the award-winning Musical School programme successfully used today by 6,500 schools across England. This session will be run by Lee Marchant, Assistant Head of Service with Ealing Music Service.
The comprehensive Scheme of Work, aimed at less confident class teachers or those new to Charanga, provides everything teachers need to teach musical lessons with singing, composing and performing. The Scheme comes complete with planning and progression documents, differentiated instrumental parts, a musical glossary and a wealth of guidance giving background and contextual information, all in line with the National Curriculum for Music.
The Freestyle section contains themed resources, instrumental courses, listening bank, collaborative materials and musical toolkit and is ideal for more experienced teachers and cross curricular learning.
Additionally, teachers can create their own lessons from the vast library and share these with colleagues and pupils via Music World, their safe online space.

By the end of this session you will have:

  • Learned a range of practical music making techniques utilising Charanga
  • Gained a better understanding of how Charanga can be used to teach the KS1 and 2 National curricula for music
  • An improved confidence in how to integrate Charanga across topics
