A Music Education Hub celebration
Connecting communities through music
Thursday 13th July 2017, Upton Country Park
Event partner Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
Set in the tropically planted Walled Garden of Upton Country Park in Poole, this summer SoundStorm (lead partner of the Music Education Hub for Bournemouth and Poole) will celebrate 5 years of award winning Hub success with a very special evening event Striking Chords.
Themed around the connections which bring students, schools and Hub partner musicians together every year, the event will showcase a handpicked selection of the collaborations and partnerships that make the Bournemouth and Poole Hub an award-winning success.
Featuring performances from Poole Grammar Orchestra (featuring Parkstone Grammar), Steel the Magic and Panoramic (steel pans), Dorset Youth Jazz Orchestra, Electric Guitar Ensemble and samba band Ritmo with special contributions from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Bath Philharmonia’s ‘Music in Action’ and Poole Young Carer’s, it’s an event not to be missed.
In partnership with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the event will feature Absolute Music, Coda Music Trust and a host of local independent practitioners and Music Hub partners, as well as the respondents to the Open Call, all brought together for one night in this unique, cross-conurbation micro-festival.
Gates will open at 5pm to allow guests to settle on the grass, grab a bite to eat and to mingle and meet with some of the people that make the Hub what it is. Join a drumming circle with Afric Arts, be a music maker at the BSO workshop or sit back and enjoy the warm up show on the BSO Chamber Stage. The main event starts at 7pm
Purchase tickets here via our partner Lighthouse Poole (website and in person at the box office) at the price of £7 for adults and £4 concessions. Early booking is strongly advised as the size of the Walled Garden dictates audience numbers due to Health and Safety
