Queens Park Infants School: The Gingerbread Man

We commissioned Coda Music Trust to deliver one term’s work with all of the Year 1 students at Queens Park Infants School.

This project was centered around the story of The Gingerbread Man and incorporated Geography (local and global), Technology, Food & Nutrition, Art, Writing, Maths and Music (creative composition).

The students began by reading the story of The Gingerbread Man, then began to create their own exploits based on the original tale, after taking a bus ride and a trip to Bournemouth Gardens.


Working with Sam Mason of Coda, all of the students in year 1…

  • creatively interpreted the Gingerbread Man’s travels to music in a series of musical compositions and performed using spoken word, singing, percussion and instruments
  • composed and performed an original song based on their interpretation of the Gingerbread Man’s adventures
