SSAFA announces support for ‘Lest We Forget’ concert

‘There for them then, still here for them now’

SSAFA, the country’s oldest military charity, is delighted and proud to be the lead sponsor of the ‘Lest We Forget’ concerts on March 19th at the Bournemouth International Centre, the spirit of which chimes closely with the work of the charity. For 135 years SSAFA has never forgotten the dedication of our armed forces nor the emotional, practical and financial support that those who wear and wore uniform and their families all too often require.

At the start of World War One SSAFA was the only military charity to care for the families of soldiers sent to the Front. Soon after the outbreak of war, the Government called on SSAFA to support the Home Front: the families, the women and children left behind by those who went off to fight. Within weeks, SSAFA had recruited 50,000 volunteers around the country to carry out our work.

Today they provide lifelong support for Forces and their families just as they did in the First World War and have done in every conflict since. SoundStorm is proud to have their support as part of the event; the spirit of remembrance sits at the heart of the events on March 19th (click here for tickets) and the long history of SSAFA as well as their local presence across Dorset makes them the ideal partner for Lest We Forget.

Manned by qualified volunteers, the seven SSAFA divisions in Dorset stand ready to support those in need and may be contacted on 01202 742934 or email
