We’re a huge advocate for how important inspirational musical experiences are for young people. Everyone can recall a musical experience or performance that helped shape them, be that as a musician or as a music fan.
Experiencing or being part of live music, whether as a performer or audience member, profoundly enriches lives. Whether it’s the first time seeing an Indian tabla played live, the first time seeing an audience from the stage, or their first time having your composition performed by professional musicians — these moments are invaluable and formative in young people’s development.
Our ambition is to offer a breadth of inspiring musical experiences to as many young people as possible. Every year we carefully curate a range of live musical inputs both in and out of school. Working with partners, we offer schools and young people opportunities to experience high quality performances, to work with professionals and to perform in inspirational settings.
Past inputs have ranged from opportunities for emerging musicians such as BandStorm (Battle of the Bands), Perform and Cadanza, to larger collaborations including Armonico Gala Concert and The Great Poole Pan Off, to our more alternative offshoots such as Seeing Sound and Orchestral Evolution. Not to mention our full-scale bienniel Music Hub showcases: In the Mix and Striking Chords.
With a packed programme of live experiences coming up this year including 44 in-school tours through Live and Inspired and the 2019, even bigger Music Hub showcase coming up, we can’t wait to be bringing more music to more young people.
