This March at the venerable Bournemouth International Centre SoundStorm and over 500 children and young people, will come together to commemorate the First World War, in a uniquely creative, collaborative event.
In partnership with Dorset Music Service (DMS), Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO Blast), Music in Action and Wave alongside a host of schools from both county and conurbation, the event will showcase the musical talents of the county groups including the Dorset Youth Orchestra, Bournemouth Youth Orchestra and Bath Philharmonia.
SoundStorm have been working with DMS and local author Ron Dawson to develop an event that will take a dignified approach towards remembering the 16 million who gave and lost their lives in the Great War. The musical programme comprises a repertoire of songs from the era but will also include contemporary surprises and some original compositions, one of which lends it’s title to the name of the event ‘Lest We Forget’.
Our sister agency, Wave is taking the lead in ‘animating’ the event which will include contributions from the drama students at Winton and Glenmoor Academy, dance from Longfleet Primary alongside a specially commissioned audio visual backdrop developed by local artist Martin Coyne.
Tickets for the matinee are already selling fast and are available via DMS (email firstname.lastname@example.org) at just £1 a ticket.
The main event goes on sale this week, available both online and in person at the BIC https://www.bhlivetickets.co.uk/Online/default.asp
