In partnership with The Chris Woods Groove Orchestra the BCP Youth Guitar Orchestra has been running since summer 2020 bringing together students throughout lockdown, for a monthly term time get-together via Zoom.
From Orchestral Evolution to the 6 String Spektrum project, Chris is known to many students and has been working with the Hub since 2015. His inclusive approach is unique, bringing together musicians locally, nationally, and internationally to collaborate, learn and enjoy a shared love of the guitar.
As we look to September and the year ahead, there are a few changes we’re making to the YGO. Throughout the pandemic, we were committed to simply making sure the sessions happened…waiving any fees, and working with Chris to make sure the meetings continued to take place.
Since the group returned in autumn, we’ve been hosting our in-person ‘Get Together’. While Zoom is great, playing together in the same room just can’t be beaten. Add to that the chance to hang out with other like-minded musicians and meet professionals, it makes total sense! After two great sessions in October and December, we’re stoked to announce the next ‘Get-Together’, taking place at Bournemouth & Poole College ( accessed via Danecourt Rd).
These half-termly sessions offer the opportunity to rehearse as a full guitar orchestra, with guidance and support for all pieces as well as bitesize, inspiring workshops. We’ll be back at the College on Sunday 15 May; Sunday 10 July 2022 (from 9.30 – 3.30pm)
The cost for these two half-day sessions (we’ll be doing one every term) and attendance at the Zoom meetings will be £25 per half term. This covers your attendance at everything (other than the occasional rehearsal where you’ll pay just £5).
From September, because we’re introducing a charge and will be meeting together in person, we need a bit more information about you in order to make sure the meetings are both fun and also safe! Even if you’ve been a member since it all started, we need you to complete the form again as we need a bit more information this time…click the link below
