Elevate at Christmas
SoundStorm Music Education Agency in partnership with CHJ Music set up Elevate during lockdown to give school age orchestral instrumentalists an opportunity to be part of an ensemble at a time when it was impossible in person. Today we are very proud to premiere our latest Christmas themed project and we hope you all enjoy the video. Happy Christmas!
Live & Inspired 24/25 Beatboxing with Grace Savage
We were delighted with the feedback following our latest Live & Inspired primary school tour with 4 times UK beatboxing champion Grace Savage. We hope you enjoy a snapshot of her sessions as much as the children did!
Showcase 2024
On 4 July 2024 at Lighthouse Poole, SoundStorm put on our most ambitious concert for two years, featuring over 450 children from 19 schools and over 30 professional musicians, showcasing 10 contrasting creative and musical projects, demonstrating the breadth of the work of the BCP Council Music Hub. ‘Showcase’ was the result of months of hard work and preparation, and we wanted to capture some of this in a ‘making of’ video. We hope you enjoy!
SENsational
Created as part of a SoundStorm songwriting and recording project in partnership with Jack Grace. Jack worked with 6 SEN schools: Linwood School, Longspee Academy, Montacute School, Portfield School, Victoria Education Centre, Winchelsea School to create and record 6 great songs.
BandStorm 2024
In March 2024 we saw Sanguis Mortem reign supreme at our BandStorm Final at the Old Fire Station in Bournemouth. Check out the video which captures the electric atmosphere brilliantly! Its safe to say that we have some serious talent in the area and the future of rock in BCP is looking heavy! Congratulations to ALL bands involved and thanks again to our partners Absolute Music, Old Fire Station and Bournemouth University.
Live & Inspired – The secondary school edition
In January 2024, SoundStorm produced our first Live and Inspired tour of secondary schools, to follow up on the excellent feedback our primary tours have been receiving. Local world jazz sextet, Thokozile Collective, visited 6 schools during the week, as well as launching their new album at Lighthouse, Poole. Here is a short film from one of those schools to give you a taster of what went on during the tour.
The Poole Voyages
In November 2023, SoundStorm, in partnership with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Longfleet CE Primary School and Poole High School, produced a very special concert of new music, entitled ‘The Poole Voyages’, composed by BSO Associate Neil Valentine working with Paeder Townsend and the young people involved in the concert, which premiered at St James’ Church to a rammed, sold out crowd. The whole event was part of a wider programme celebrating the heritage of the most historic part of Poole. Below is our highlights film of the project.
Live & Inspired 2024 – Opera Magic
As part of SoundStorm’s Live & Inspired programme, an offer whereby every Primary receives an in-school live music experience per school year, we were delighted to work with London Festival Opera to present ‘Opera Magic’. Hundreds of pupils across ten lucky Primaries attended whole-school performances from four professional opera singers to listen, participate and not least dress the part at what for many was their very first visit to the opera! Bravo!
Live & Inspired Tour – King Brass – 2023
As our Live & Inspired Tours continue, we were transported to the streets of New Orleans as King Brass performed their musical magic last week for several lucky BCP primary schools and educated pupils about the various brass instruments and percussion involved.
Aspiration through Inspiration
Curated in partnership with Poole Society for Young Musicians and Broadstone Music Series we are delighted to introduce Aspiration through Inspiration, a series of professional masterclasses led by a handpicked selection of distinguished guests.

Summer School 2020
The Poole Society for Young musicians and Broadstone Music Series perform a vital role in the local music education landscape: since 2015, SoundStorm has been supporting their concert series and masterclasses and we are delighted to once again be the lead partner in their annual Summer School.

Live And Inspired BSO 2020
SoundStorm’s 1st tour of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to all infant, junior and primary schools in Christchurch. It’s been an absolute pleasure to see the positive reactions and smiling faces of the children.
Beethoven 250
Last year Magna Sinfonia invited SoundStorm to collaborate on their Beethoven 250: we recruited 6 schools and 120 choristers to join the orchestra at Christchurch Priory in celebration of the composers birthday.

Live and Inspired 19/20

The project uses cultural education and social enterprise as a means to reintegrate young people back into education and/or interaction with their peers, at the same time improving their health and wellbeing.
From Classroom To Concert Hall
On November 5th, over 250 students from Bournemouth and Poole travelled to London to perform the Massed ensemble centre-piece at the Music for Youth Proms, joining 300+ students from the Isle of Wight and Southampton Music Hubs and members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Compose 18/19
14 young musicians came together for the first time in November to create music. After just three workshops, led by John K. Miles and Chris Woods, they presented their original compositions earlier this month. All pieces were written, developed, performed (and even conducted) by the group. This is Compose.
Gaelynn Lea
In partnership with Victoria Education Centre we welcomed the incredible Gaelynn Lea Music to Poole, bringing together students from Winchelsea and Victoria. A beautiful and inspiring experience that we’re delighted to share with you.
Live And Inspired – Brazil Trio Simbora
New Hub partners Live Music Now and their Trio Simbora at Linwood School. This is part of our Live & Inspired programme which will reach almost 15000 students this year.

Live And Inspired – Indian Fusion
As part of our commitment to making inspirational experiences accessible to more young people, this year we have pledged to offer 44 primary and SEN schools a live, in-school performance. ‘Indian Fusion’ from The Chris Woods Groove Orchestra, was one of them.
