Applications for Future Talent’s 2016 bursaries and scholarships are now open:
This year they are offering three main awards:
Worsley Bursary: £3,000 to be spread over three years, i.e. £1,000 per year (5-15yr olds)
Robinson Bursary: £1,000 for one year (16-18yr olds)
Bramall Scholarship: £2,000 per year, every year until the age of 18 (5-18yr olds, for musicians residing in the North of England only)
Bursaries can be used for anything that will be musically beneficial to the musician, and the best way in which to spend the money would be discussed with a member of their team. Each musician not only gets financial support, but also performance/development opportunities and personal mentoring. They also aim to do two orchestral projects per year.
All applicants have to be from a household income of less than £30,000 per year. Musicians need to include an unedited recording or video with their application. If the application is successful the musician would then be invited to an audition, which would be on either 13 March in London, or 20 March in Manchester. They take into account every persons circumstance and how much they would benefit from the award, so people should be specific in their application regarding their need for financial support or guidance and opportunities. They support any instrument or voice type, from any musical background.
The deadline for applications is the 11 January.
