Introducing Sound Wave Sinfonia

…and a new Hub partnership with Musical Chairs Summer school

Sound Wave Sinfonia formed in 2015 as a community orchestra welcoming all orchestral instruments. Whilst the music is taken seriously with an eclectic repertoire to suit all tastes, rehearsals are a friendly affair.  Staging three events per year to showcase the endeavours and to encourage young players to perform solos, the orchestra is comprised of all ages with a blend of musical experience, bringing together teachers, players and tutors who are on hand to guide the younger players.

Sound Wave Sinfonia has its origins in 1998 when Joanna Welsh formed the Magic flute band, a flute choir which continues to this day. The addition of Windbreaks in 2006 was a natural progression and in 2015 it was decided to welcome string players into the group and thus Sound Wave Sinfonia as an orchestra was born. The orchestra is always recruiting new members (no auditions required) and anyone interested should contact Joanna Welsh on 07976 882818 or email

Rehearsals are every Thursday (term time),
St George’s Methodist Church, Boscombe 7.30 pm till 9.00 pm

Joanna Welsh is also hosting Musical Chairs Summer School this July. Take a look at the details here.
