Continuing Professional Development
As part of the South Coast Music Partnership, we are committed to providing professional development opportunities for our school based colleagues and also our network of practitioners within the SoundStorm membership and the wider SCMP.
Our approach to CPD takes many forms: across primary phase we host practical sessions led by a team of music education specialists and special guests, targeting both non-specialist and the more experienced teachers. In secondary, our colleagues each receive a personal development bursary to progress their interests.
Where possible we offer an embedded approach where CPD and teacher support is included within the delivery of our projects and programmes such as WCET. Team teaching, observation and the sharing of skills are integrated across many strands of our work.
Since 2020 our CPD has adapted as necessary; from a range of online, Zoom and MS Team offers during the Covid pandemic, which proved to be popular and convenient for teachers in exceptionally challenging circumstances. To a blended model of both online skills sharing, networking and discussion, and in person to help develop confidence levels as we continued to navigate our way through the following years.
In 2022/23 for our infant and primary phase schools, we were back to having a full programme of face to face training and networking through termly Primary Skills Days and confidence building Charanga workshops.
All this recent hard work and invaluable support has been archived in the corresponding year, below. If you can’t find what you are looking for, please contact your coordinator.
In 2024-5 we appointed Lead Schools in SEND, Primary and Secondary phases, and we are excited to be working with them, developing what this will mean in terms of greater sharing of skills and training within the SCMP.
