Primary Music Skills Day: Friday 14th November 2025
9am – 4.30 pm at Bearwood Community Centre, King John Ave., Bearwood, Bournemouth BH11 9TF
Unfortunately Kinson cannot host us on the day we needed this year, however, never fear – we have found an alternative venue in Bearwood Community Centre!
Over the last few years, our Skills Days have provided opportunities for Music Subject Leaders, both specialists and non-specialist to develop their confidence, skills and network with colleagues across the conurbation. These days focus on a variety of skills including practical ways to deliver the classroom music recommendations set out in DfE’s Model Music Curriculum / National Plan for Music Education, as well as overall confidence building.
Four our first Skills Day of 2025, we are inviting teachers from both the Primary and Secondary phase, as, all sessions on offer could be useful to teachers across any phase.
Firstly, we are thrilled to be launching our Accessible Instrument Library, with the help of Mike Whitlock. One of our focuses of the Capital Grant funding was to build a library of instruments and tools to make learning music accessible for all. Once launched, our Accessible Instrument Library will be available for either schools or individual students to hire.
The other main workshop for the day is with Rob Bradley from The Rap School. He will be delivering an engaging session on rap/spoken word and will be sure to increase your confidence at encouraging this art form in your school, and perhaps even delivering sessions yourselves!
