Job Opportunity!
Young Sounds UK/ SoundStorm Connector – deadline for applications: 9am on Monday 2 November 2026 (no applications will be considered after this deadline).
In partnership with Young Sounds UK, SoundStorm is looking for a new freelance Connector for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a person with experience in music education to join the wider SoundStorm team and link with a national network of 19 other Connectors.
The Connector will work across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP). A key objective of this role is implied in the name: you will connect with young people and their families, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, linking them with musical opportunities, brokering partnerships that break down barriers to music making and develop new progression routes for young people in challenging circumstances. But there will also be scope to shape the role yourself based on local circumstances, in partnership with SoundStorm; plus some project management / development work.
It’s a freelance, part time role (equivalent one day per week, term time only) on a fixed term contract to March 2028 (subject to satisfactory performance), funded by Young Sounds UK. The role is home-based along with travel into local settings / schools etc; it is therefore essential that the successful candidate has a suitable space to work in at home with good wifi connections; and access to a car for business use is also highly desirable.
Please read the ‘Job Description / Person Specification’ (which contains details on ‘how to apply’) and the ‘Supporting Information’ for more general info.
If you wish to apply, please email claire.white@bcpcouncil.gov.uk by 9am on 2 November.
Please note: you will need to be available to attend an interview on Friday 6 November 2026.
