Musician Ralph Cree recently held a series of workshops at Blandford Youth Club, teaching a small group of children how to compose music using the Garage band App on Ipads. His aim was to give young people the opportunity to exercise their musical creativity, embracing the digital era whilst building social skills. The project also acted as a pilot to explore ways in which digital technology can be used to engage young people with music in rural communities which may have limited resources.

Ralph guided them to compose 21 pieces of music all in all, using virtual instruments, loops, and audio recording. A broad range of styles and genres were successfully produced. The project was concluded with a presentation of the tracks over the loud sound system at the venue.
