July 3rd, 2019, the Hub returned to Upton Country Park for the biennial showcase.
Taking the 50th anniversary of the moon landing as its inspiration, Transmission was our most ambitious event to date. It featured over 350 students, attracted an audience of almost 1000 and presented a cross phase showcase of our school based inputs alongside several brand new commissions. Supported once again by Hub partner Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, their members performed in their own right and also supported the finale.
John K. Miles wrote and conducted our spectacular finale featuring students from Bournemouth School, Corpus Christi, Glenmoor & Winton Academies and members of the Coda Fiddle orchestra and the Capriccioso Quartet. The combined concert orchestra from Poole and Parkstone Grammar performed another world premiere, ‘Apollo’ composed by David Beeby and throughout the day, our Hub partners led a truly eclectic array of ensembles.
We were honoured to be joined by the Chair of BCP Council, Cllr David Flagg and a number of new Councillors. Thanks must go to all of the schools, every student and of course the friends, family and supporters of our young performers. We’ll see you again in 2021!
