Live & Inspired Tour 2022/23

We are delighted to announce our ‘Live & Inspired’ tours for the year ahead, and its bigger and better than ever! For those who are new to the Hub or your Music Subject Lead role, as part of the 22/23 Music Education Hub Membership offer, your school will be scheduled ONE in-school live music experience from the options below. Each of the tours is scheduled to cover 10 schools over 3-5 days.

Live & Inspired is exclusive to SoundStorm and has been continued to be commissioned in response to feedback and our Arts Council England objectives. The aim of the input is to widen participation with a simple ambition of offering your whole school access to a live music experience but with no additional travel costs for the school.

The Tours

Nick Squires & Steve Gonzales ‘A Brief History of Music’

Autumn 2: 7th – 9th, 15th & 16th November 2022

A late addition to our 2021/22 L&I programme, local musicians Nick and Steve are back by popular demand and officially on the menu for 2022-23! Combining cello, piano, backing tracks and DJ equipment (mixers, pa speakers) the musicians will entertain take you on a whistlestop tour of music from the medieval era right the way through to 20th century music and finish with a dance remix. Randolph Matthews

Autumn 2: Monday 21st – Friday 25th November 2022

Randolph Matthews is a voice facilitator, composer, and performance artist. His musical career spans over 2 decades and his expertise saunters through jazz, blues, and contemporary dance. Randolph performs and creates work nationally and internationally with collaboration across interdisciplinary art forms. Randolph has a passion for education demonstrated by his collaboration with the Young Voices Choir which took him up and down England from Manchester arena to the Royal Albert Hall performing to more than 500,000 people over two years Click here for more.


Far Flung Folk

Spring 1: Wednesday 11th – Friday 13th January 2023

Bringing you a perfect taste of English Folk Music, sit back and enjoy the sounds of singer-songwriter Alex Roberts and his guitar, as he inspires your students with truly beautiful songs and mesmerizing playing style – check out his videos to get a taste here.


Thokozile Collective

Spring 1: Monday 6th – Friday 10th February 2023

Teachers and students alike may just recognize some band members of Thokozile…Our very own Team Leader and very fine musician, Dan Somogyi shows us how it’s done, alongside band mates Rob Palmer, Neil Evans, Terry Quinney and special guest Cheikh Diop… Bringing you a fun and very cultural experience of African Flavoured Jazz, this Live & Inspired Experience will bring summer vibes to your school into the depths of an English winter as you send them off on half term…


Mambossa

Summer 1: Monday 22nd – Friday 26th May 2023

Kicking your Summer term into gear, Mambossa (Dave, Joe and Willem) will bring a fresh and funky offer with a carnival feel, celebrating the music of Bahia, North East Brazil (think Olodum – of MJ ‘They Don’t Really Care About Us’ fame, search them on Spotify), which will be sure to have everyone up on their feet, moving and getting involved.
